A little trip to Go Outdoors in Basingstoke today on 1st Feb to purchase some additional camping supplies was very successful!
They had 3 units, one for Camping, one for Hiking and one for Cycling with tons of equipment in each one, plus a handy 30% off (When don’t they have a sale on?!)
We ventured inside the Camping one where they had a number of their tents already pitched. We managed to find the Vango 300 which was the one I purchased a couple of months ago and was so glad I never bought the 2-man tent which would have been way too small, the 3 man tent should have enough room for 2 people with rucksacks quite comfortably. The tent also has a couple of small areas between the inner and outer skins where boots and other bits n bots can be stored, so these won’t take up room inside the tent. Made a mental note that as soon as the weather gets better and less wet underfoot that I must have a go at pitching the tent in the back garden just so I know what I’m doing!.
We also bought some dehydrated meals just to see what they were like. Since we didn’t have a lot of food in the house we decided that the best way to test them would be to test our gas burner, boil up some water and leave them to re-hydrate, as if we were properly camping. What a way to spend a Saturday night!
