Hot, hot, hot

Sunday 15th June was hot, very hot. We had a route planned from the National Trust website which was 12.5 miles, starting in Henley and passing through Hambleden, Medmenham, Remenham and back to Henley.

We parked in Henley Station car park and headed out about 10am with plenty of suncream applied.

The bags were fully packed and incredibly heavy, with of us were pretty uncomfortable with the weight, add in the 28 degrees heat and this was going to be a long day.

We walked out of Henley along the opposite side of the river to normal and the soon headed up into the hills and into Hambleden where we stopped for drinks, sandwiches and a rest which was most welcome.

After lunch we got a little lost and went round in circles for 20 minutes, using my Garmin to follow our route it was telling us that we were off route. Eventually sorted out our way, and soon headed into Medmenham  crossing the main road and back to the Thames towpath. By now we were both very hot, tired and aching backs and it was a long trek for the final few miles back to Henley along the Thames towpath via Hambleden. All in all, it was a tough 4 hour walk but great training and sent me off to find out how to adjust backpacks properly!!
