Day 3. Whose idea was this?!🤣 Crazy heat today. 12.5 miles, 1,644 feet of elevation, Buriton to Cocking.
Nearly broke both of us today… We left at 8.15 with half mile uphill out of town back to the trail, and then more uphill. The tracks were hard, stony, chalky and seemed to just attract the heat. We managed to get some shade occasionally, and made the most of it, mile after mile out in the sun.
Harting Down was absolutely stunning, beautiful far reaching views, and nice grassy paths too. The AirBnB had made us sandwiches which we devoured about 11.30, under the shade of a tree, whilst we watched 2 other groups of people come past, also walking the trail, clearly we are not the only nutters out there!!
Today there were no cafes or mobile coffee vans at all, the first place we saw was 0.4 mile away from the end! We only carried 2l of water in total so by the end we were both very much in need of fluids.
Now at our first campsite, facilities are interesting!!!
