Day 6. I know you’re excited for this… 🤣
14.29 miles, 5 hrs 59 walking.
Someone please order 2 new pairs of feet for us, please! (do Amazon deliver here?)
Kim is leading the blister division by a couple of points, 9 to 7, I dare say I’ll do my best to catch her up..
Left YHA Truleigh at 9.15, cooler temperature, and lots of the paths over nice soft grass, yippee!
Water stop after a couple of miles, and our other crazy friends are doing the same walk this week, who we’ve seen every day came past, and we stopped for a chat.
Onwards to Devils Dyke, very impressive, then down to Saddlescombe Farm National Trust Wild Flower cafe for some awesome cake and cold drinks.
More hills and hard paths and a few miles later we made it to Pyecombe. On the map M &S in a petrol station was close, but in reality almost a mile there and back for sandwiches and supplies which were devoured in the cool shade of the church. What’s another mile, eh? 🤪
Onwards through Pyecombe golf club and up to Ditchling Beacon. Last time I was there the ice cream van was there, alas not today, and 3 miles further the mobile coffee van was also not there, doesnt work on a Thursday, I think someone has it in for us…Had to resort to Ultimate 80s tunes to keep us going.
Even though we felt like on top of the world, the paths were still undulating until finally we started a long descent hrough endless fields down to our camp site at Housedean Farm.
Another hard day, but rewarded with some amazing views, we are now only 24 miles from Eastbourne!
Please keep the donations rolling in, it’s spurring us along and keeping us going!
Until tomorrow…
