DAY 3
The South Downs Way route from Buriton to Cocking covers approximately 11.5 miles and takes you through beautiful woodland, and the open downland of National Trust site at Harting Down. This section is moderate in difficulty, with some steady climbs and rewarding views, with limited places on route to fill up with supplies.

Key Landmarks & Highlights
1. Queen Elizabeth Country Park to Harting Down
- Leaving Buriton and the Queen Elizabeth Country Park behind, its a steady climb leading to the open ridge at Harting Down National trust, a stunning chalk downland nature reserve.
- This area provides expansive views across the Weald and the Solent, making it a highlight of the route.
2. Harting Down to Treyford Hill
- The trail continues over Beacon Hill, a prominent high point with panoramic views.
- We take a slight off route diversion to South Harting to stock up on supplies
- Passes Treyford Hill and Didling Hill, two gentle climbs through open countryside.
3. Treyford Hill to Cocking
- A gradual descent leads toward Cocking Down, offering beautiful scenery.
- The route finishes with a final descent into the small village of Cocking where we stop at Manor Farm Campsite.

Trail Experience
This section is a classic South Downs Way experience, combining woodland trails, open ridges, and rolling hills. Harting Down is a particular highlight, offering one of the best viewpoints on the trail. The route is well-marked and mostly straightforward, with a mix of gentle ascents and descents.
