Monday March 3rd – the sun has finally got his hat on and there is actually some warmth in the air! I had a nice route planned, starting in Hambleden, over the lock and following the River Thames down to Henley for some lunch. Then looping round the fields above Henley, back to Hambleden lock and then back to the start in Hambleden, about 8 miles in total.
Started off at the small village of Hambleden

We headed out through the fields which had a lovely stream passing through them, and beautiful blue skies.
Hambleden Lock and Wier
In Henley we stopped for a bite to eat in ‘Viv’s Cafe’ overlooking the bridge over the River Thames, it was even warm enough to sit outside!

We headed off after lunch and headed into the fields and woods above the Thames, stopping for a small snack we’d picked up en-route, very tasty!
Then it was back to Hambleden Lock, over the Wier and back to the start for a quick pint in the pub!
The Wier gates were fully open and the torrent of water flowing through them was quite a sight, not to mention the noise!

What a lovely hike on a gorgeous sunny day!
